Cooking the Brettzel

Most of you have been introduced to the Brettzel as part of our mobility work either before or after a WOD. In the following video Gray Cook gives some great information about the Brettzel 2.0 - or the anterior chain (front of the body) Brettzel.

Training Schedule Change

Time-changeWe have moved the Monday, Wednesday and Friday 1200 to 0100 PM workout to an earlier time.  The new time is 1030 to 1130 AM.  This earlier time will help accomodate some of the busy schedules that will be coming during the Summer months.

Thanks and I hope you enhoy the earlier workout time!

Skills For Life

Deadlift-femaleI've mentioned Dan John a number of times on this blog, and you can be sure that you'll see more of him in the future. I'm bringing him up because of a concept that he passed on a while ago about the basic movement patterns. According to Dan they are: Push, Pull, Squat, Hinge and Carry.  If you've been in the gym for any amount of time then you are already familiar with the Push, Pull and Squat.  Dan's inclusion of the Hinge and the Carry to the list of the basic movement patterns is an act of genius.  They have both been out there forever - but it took the mind of Dan John to bring it all together.  You have to wonder how much Sctoch was sacrificed for this revelation! :)

Another athlete, Tim Anderson of Life is Movement, made a similar revelation that you might find enlightening.  It has to do with the Push-up, Deadlift and Squat.  Check out what he has to say here.
